PLAT ASIA

Based in Beijing, PLAT ASIA conceives cultural centers and hot spring resorts by dissolving solid structural volumes into surrounding landscapes using glowing floating planes, dynamic louvered facades, and interior water courtyards. The work offers a precise reference when detailing cascading water features beside visitor circulation paths, integrating low seating platforms above stone gravel beds, or balancing deep interior footprints with sunlit circular gardens.

Exterior perspectives of a resort hotel in a pine forest featuring undulating terracotta louvers and a tall vertical tower by PLAT ASIA.

A resort hotel design precedent demonstrating how undulating terracotta screen facades and slender vertical towers integrate into a dense pine forest landscape.

What we like about this project
The main facade louvers tilt at alternating angles, catching light dynamically as the wall curves.

Geometry
Curvilinear facade massing with staggered, overlapping vertical louvers; adjacent single-story glazed pavilion and slender vertical tower.
Facade system
Terracotta or composite louver screen system mounted off a curvilinear primary envelope.
Structural guess
Reinforced concrete frame with suspended exterior shading systems.
Spatial scale
Medium-scale resort complex; multi-story main building contrasted with a slender vertical tower and single-story pavilion.
Lighting
Diffused overcast daylight creating soft shadows and highlighting the faceted plane of the louvers.
Atmosphere
Serene and grounded, blending earthy terracotta tones with the surrounding forest greens.
Environmental context
Forested setting with mature pine trees, rolling grassy earthwork, and natural landscape.
Spatial experience
The long, textured facade curves along a planted, mounded landscape, framing outdoor courtyards and pedestrian paths among pine trees.
Composition rhythm
Rhythmic, staggered articulation of facade panels creates a dynamic, scaly texture along the curve.
