Lemanarc

Practicing across Lausanne, Zurich, and Shanghai, Lemanarc shapes large-scale corporate headquarters and institutional complexes through dynamic geometric massing, deeply carved entrance lobbies, and finely textured cladding systems. This work serves as a strong reference for detailing fluted spandrel panels along curved corners, mitigating the visual bulk of massive upper stories with cascading rooflines, or balancing cold structural concrete with warm timber interior elements.

Aerial view of a cluster of multi-family housing blocks with solar panels integrated into pitched roofs, designed by Lemanarc in a European town setting.

An aerial precedent by Lemanarc demonstrating contextual multi-family housing design with integrated rooftop photovoltaics and scaled massing within an historic town fabric.

What we like about this project
Solar panels cover large segments of the pitched roofs, matching the building geometry while adding a distinct dark grid texture.

Geometry
Arrangement of multi-story residential volumes stepping down a slope, featuring staggered footprints that create interstitial green courtyards and pocket spaces.
Facade system
Light-colored rendered plaster wall panels with regular punched window openings and balconies.
Structural guess
Reinforced concrete frame with masonry or insulated wall assemblies.
Spatial scale
District scale captured from an aerial drone viewpoint, showing three-to-five-story residential blocks.
Lighting
Bright midday sunlight casting short, crisp shadows across the roofs and ground plane.
Atmosphere
Ordered, clear daylight highlighting sustainable infill development within a historic landscape.
Environmental context
Hillside European town context with surrounding vineyards, historic rooftops, and mature trees.
Spatial experience
A medium-density infill fabric that bridges traditional town scale with contemporary multi-family housing blocks and shared open spaces.
Composition rhythm
Repeating window groupings and photovoltaic arrays create a textured rhythm across the pitched and flat roof surfaces.
