Heta Architects

London-based Heta Architects designs coastal resort masterplans and mixed-use maritime quarters defined by a dialogue between heavy stone infrastructure and floating concrete forms, punctuated by deep overhangs and concealed linear lighting. This body of work serves as a strong reference when resolving the spatial transition between rigid seawalls and stepped public promenades, or when specifying integrated architectural lighting within cantilevered structures and resort grounds.

South West St Helier

An aerial master-planning precedent for integrating a dense urban waterfront with a curving public beach promenade and protected marina.

What we like about this project
Curved seawall seamlessly transitions into a stepped terraced beach promenade.

Geometry
Curvilinear waterfront promenade and sea wall follow the natural arc of the sandy beach, contrasting with the dense orthogonal street grid and mid-rise blocks inland.
Facade system
Mixed mid-rise fenestration patterns across various contemporary apartment and commercial blocks.
Structural guess
Reinforced concrete frames for urban blocks with heavy seawall engineering along the shore.
Spatial scale
Macro urban scale showing multi-block neighborhoods, wide coastal roads, and a large public beach frontage.
Lighting
Bright afternoon sunlight from the right, casting soft long shadows from buildings and street trees toward the inland side.
Atmosphere
Expansive, bright, and breezy coastal atmosphere contrasting urban density with open sea.
Environmental context
Coastal waterfront setting adjacent to a large harbor marina, sandy beach, and extensive marine horizon under a clear sky.
Spatial experience
Vast horizontal expanses open up from the high vantage point, connecting the bustling urban waterfront road directly to the calm marine horizon.
Composition rhythm
Diagonal sweep of the coastline and promenade balanced by the clustered vertical blocks of the city center.
