必意建筑设计

Based in Shenzhen, 必意建筑设计 designs corporate headquarters, airport terminals, and mixed-use towers characterized by continuous grid modules across varying structural spans, scale-shifting facade patterns, and linear water features that align central entry courts. The portfolio serves as a strong reference when balancing dense tower massing against low-rise podiums or establishing axial landscape pathways to guide building approaches.

Exterior view of three high-rise terracotta and brick-patterned towers connected by a low base along a highway by 必意建筑设计.

深圳

An exterior facade precedent for large-scale urban towers featuring a uniform, checkerboard masonry skin and a connecting podium base along a major highway.

What we like about this project
The checkerboard pattern shifts scale slightly between the towers and the low connecting base podium base, subtly breaking down the mass.

Geometry
Three tall, slender volumetric towers rise from a shared, elongated horizontal base podium, framing open urban space between them.
Facade system
Unitized masonry-clad rainscreen system with deeply integrated, repeating punched window openings.
Structural guess
Steel frame or reinforced concrete core and slab construction with exterior non-structural masonry cladding.
Spatial scale
Large-scale urban development; the multi-story towers dwarf the highway traffic and surrounding mid-rise structures.
Lighting
Bright midday sun casting clear, crisp shadows across the facade grids and washing the highway foreground.
Atmosphere
A structured, monumental urban scene animated by highway motion and strong daylight.
Environmental context
Urban highway infrastructure in the foreground with multi-lane traffic, surrounded by a dense high-rise city skyline.
Spatial experience
The composition reads as a monolithic wall of patterned masonry from the highway, presenting a massive urban gate or screen.
Composition rhythm
A dense grid of alternating dark and warm masonry panels creating a regular vertical and horizontal tectonic rhythm.
Style reading
Contemporary monumental urbanism

Mixed-use residential and commercial towers
